Sample is Sexy Againrecent activity in the sample provision sector

Since Christmas we have had a flurry of activity on the sample provision front: firstly selling sample as a commodity was obviously a strong enough business model to entice two big hitters like Greenfield Online veterans Hugh Davis and Keith Price to launch a new company which will have ‘a more human approach’ to sample acquisition; secondly established player Cint has been busy rebranding its sample access and panel management products to reflect the company’s aim of 'bringing people who have questions in to connect with real people who want to share their opinions' and thirdly 'renegade sampler' Vin Gupta has started a new company dedicated to marketing a proprietary business database.
Add these endeavours to the number of sample providers who are now offering free questionnaire authoring and analysis tools on their websites to encourage customers to visit, and suddenly sample is sexy again.
In the sample providers section this month we have two companies with very different sampling challenges: the first is Culture Watch which came up blank looking for a sample source in which ‘culture’ rather than ‘ethnicity’ was a demographic and the second is ResearchBods which had to develop a new model for database building to address the problem of researching school communities. Both are excellent reads and Kate Wilson of Culture Watch has offered to keep us up date with her project as it progresses.
